Another day in NC. They seem to have learned of a marvelous thing called switchbacks, which haven’t been discovered yet in Georgia.

Started the day with Siler Bald and then did the trek over to Wayah Bald. Eery atmosphere with the burnt trees there. Lookout tower is sturdy, the privy there as well, and clean enough to camp in.

Came to Cold Spring Shelter at 17:00, which did feel more like 20:00. Had a nice campfire up on the ridge, good crowd there.

Weather is holding right now, but rain is on the forecast tomorrow.
