AT 49: Ridge Walks

Broke down camp early and started the day with the climb up Chestnut Knob. Weather started out wet and foggy. The shelter up there is one of the sturdier ones, made completely out of stone and with a door to boot.

Weather cleared up while we were up there. Very nice views of the valley.

On the way down we met Corn Dog, Cool Dad, and Toto, who were slackpacking southbound for the day.

Then a long stretch of ridge walking with partially steep dropoffs. Very rocky ridge, which makes for great scenery, but poor hiking. Ridge walking is fun though everytime.

Made our way to Laurel Creek, where we set up tent near the creek. Washed ourselves in the creek (cold, but felt really good afterwards).

Met Mimi there, who did organize a cupcake and wine, celebrating her mate Six Pack’s birthday. Then quick dinner and off to bed.
