AT 51: Waterfall Bathing, Woods Hole

Started late from Jenny Knob Shelter; first goal of the day was Dismal Falls about 6.5 miles out. Day/hiking felt sluggish. Probably the heat/humidity.

The falls were great; went for a quick dip in the pool below the falls. Quite cold, exquisitely refreshing. Washed the salt out of the hiking clothes and relaxed a bit on the rocks. Weather was perfect for this kind of thing.

Mimi appeared at the falls with a bottle of cocktail mix celebrating her birthday.

Afterwards another 15 miles, first along the Dismal Creek (muddy), then up on the ridgeline (rocky). Turmeric and I decided to go for Woods Hole Hostel, elegantly bridging a dry stretch up on the ridge. Got good views up there and some great light from the setting sun. Buckeye Boy opted for carrying water up to the ridge and camping there.

Woods Hole is really nice. Got a salad, bread, and cheese despite coming in late. Additionally ate my own PB/cheese tortillas and some of Turmerics Alfredo as well. Bunk room feels really cozy. Relaxed atmosphere all around.
