Woke up very early and headed out of the shelter at 7:00. Planned an 18 mile day, and wanted to shuttle forward about nine miles to Hanover from there, because we had a place to stay there for tonight.
At 10:00 we decided that we could make it into Hanover by hiking if we really pushed. After another ten hours of hiking and just the most necessary breaks in between, we ended up in Hanover at 8 PM. Our first and probably last marathon. Crossed into New Hampshire today on the last mile, as Hanover is just on the NH side of the VT/NH border.
Got picked up by Wren, who together with her husband Jon hosted us very graciously in their home. Got home cooked meals, a shower, nice beds.
More: Maple sap lines, soaking feet in a stream.
