Got up, packed up, made pancakes, got out.
Hiked up to the ridge trail, did the blue blaze to Mount Liberty, from where we could see the start of the ridge. Then went on to the ridge proper. Summited Little Haystack, Lincoln, and Lafayette. Weather was stellar, but extremely windy and cold. A lot of tourists up here, which we are not used to. The ridge walk was out of this world. Best few miles on the AT.
Went on and over Garfield, where our goal for the day is. First time in one of the AMC campsites/shelter. Very nicely done; has a friendly caretaker (Peter), who got us the AMC thru hiker card, which gives us a heavy discount on the AMC facilities, and free soup in the huts.
