Ten miles out of the canyon and back to the car today. Got up early, to get in as much hiking as possible, before the sun makes going up the steep walls miserable.
Worked out beautifully, with us being halfway up the canyon at 9 in the morning. Even found a flowing creek for water there.
Despite a lot of elevation gain we both felt pretty good, made good progress, and arrived at the car at about 1 PM. After cold drinks out of the bear box (V8, vroom vroom) we headed down into Yosemite Valley. Very impressive down there, even after 5 days of in the back country.
Set up camp at Upper Pines, got a sandwich (more like two) at the deli, catched a shower at the Village (very much needed).
Early to bed, and then tomorrow: Half Dome.
