AT 76: Exit Shenandoah

Last day in Shenandoah. Started late, Turmeric wasn’t feeling very fit in the morning. Did put in the miles though. A rainstorm caught us around noon and lasted for an hour, then the weather got better. Stopped for late lunch, after which we caught a second wind. Weather got outright nice. Got peach tea from

AT 75: Shenandoah Milkshakes

Retired the first pair of hiking socks after 940 miles. Now I’m on the Darn Tough train like almost everybody else. Hiked out late, slackpacking again. Got into the last Wayside for the famous Blackberry Milkshake and a burger.

AT 74: Open Arms Hostel

Another nice weather day. Stopped for lunch at a resort type place. Got some good views before getting down to Luray. Got rained on shortly, but no problem with a hostel waiting for us. Did a short stint on bikes to get ice cream and go to the local outfitter. Did a late night resupply

AT 73: Views In Shenandoah

A day with good weather finally. Woke up to the sun shining into the tent. Got views finally! A little bit of wildlife as well. Easy going with almost dry trail and the well done Shenandoah grading. Stayed at Rock Spring Hut, which got great views from the secondary hut’s porch. City lights were visible

AT 72: A Bit Of Sun, 900 Miles

Didn’t rain all day, which is a win. Sun even came out for a bit. Passed the 900 mile marker. At the end of the day we got off trail and went to a campground to dump trash. The groundskeeper offered us a free tentsite, which we happily accepted. Flat ground, a personal bear box,
