AT 151: Almost Zero, Southern Maine

Another short 10 mile slackpack over Wyman Mountain and Moody Mountain. Started at 9:00, finished at 3 PM. Serious rain started when we were finished, so got back to our trailer dry. Had the afternoon for relaxing, then got Shepherds Pie from Honey.

AT 150: Baldplates

Did a nice little slackpack of 10 miles today. Started out foggy and with a little sprinkling, then cleared up once over the Baldplate Peaks. Great views from above. Fall vibes in the forest are starting now, with fallen leaves on the ground and that distinct fall smell in the air. Returned to the hostel,

AT 149: Mahoosic

Started the day with Turmeric rolling her ankle, then continued with the hardest mile on trail. Mahoosic Notch is a mile of random, fridge-to-car-sized boulders, where you have to scramble over and under and through. Took us about two hours and twenty minutes for about 0.9 miles. Another long day. Fascinating how hard 14.5 miles can be. Did the 10 mile Gentian Pond to Full Goose run in about eight hours. Nice views of incoming storms up top, bogs there as well. Crossed into Maine today; the last state; walked from Georgia to Maine now! Made it to the shelter without headlamps

AT 147: Summer’s Back

Hot outside, even in the early morning. Did Mount Moriah in foggy but warm weather, then a sunny flat section to Route 2. Almost got heat stroke; was getting brain foggy already. After two liters of water and home made beef jerky from a weekender the heat stroke was a thing of the past. Got
